Based in Osaka, Japan


After working as an eyewear designer in Sabae (JP) and New York (US), he has been exploring the core concept from his unique perspective and proposing various designs from eyewear to space through sustainability, aesthetics, and wonder. Graduated from ECAL (Lausanne, CH) with MAS in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship.

大阪府八尾市生まれ。多摩美術大学プロダクトデザイン専攻卒業。鯖江で4年間とNYで4年間アイウェアデザイナーとして活動後、スイスへ渡る。

ローザンヌ州立美術大学(ECAL) 高級品・工芸デザイン先端研究修士課程修了。

2021年より出身地である大阪府を拠点に、独自の視点で本質を探り、眼鏡から空間までさまざまなデザイン提案を行っている。

Spatial Direction / Design

At the end of a long journey, a place was found.
A sanctuary where each creation can breathe deeply and become the true protagonist. It is a salon for these pieces, intimately connected by the singular aesthetic of its founder, 

Wataru Shimosato. Here, they tell their own stories, awaiting the next encounter before embarking on a new voyage to a new home.

This space is the very culmination of landscapes Wataru glimpsed throughout the nomadic days of "Lounge Sai," which once wandered from land to land without a permanent address. It is an architecture of memory.

Guided by the faint, and at times distorted, outlines of his recollections, towering aluminum fixtures rise like monoliths, vintage carpets lie deep and welcoming, and a sofa waits quietly in the passage of time. As with the journeys of the past, the interior is gently divided into three realms. Visitors are free to wander between them, exploring each different world at their own pace.

This place exists to welcome the countless people, creations, and ideas it has yet to meet. With every encounter, it will transform, forever evolving into a new space, a new story.


旅の果てに、ひとつの場所が見つかった。ひとつひとつの作品が、深く呼吸し、真の主役になれる場所が。そこは、主宰

Wataru Shimosatoの審美眼という糸で結ばれた、作品たちのための社交場。
 作品たちはここで思い思いに自らを語り、次なる出会いを経て、新たな場所へと旅立ってゆく。定住の地を持たずに土地から土地へと巡った「Lounge Sai」の日々。この空間は、彼が旅路で垣間見た風景の集積そのものだ。朧げで、時にスケールを歪ませた記憶の断片。その曖昧な輪郭を頼りに、
巨大なアルミフレームの什器はそびえ、ヴィンテージの絨毯は深く横たわり、ソファは静かに時を待つ。これまでの旅路のように、店内は三つの領域に緩やかに分かたれている。訪れる者はその間を自由に行き来し、異なる世界を散策する。この場所は、これから出会うであろう無数の人と作品、そして思想を迎え入れ、
そのたびに姿を変え、新たな空間へと変化してゆく。

 that enables you to create various shapes and colors by baking their proprietary ARTISAN SILICONE®.This rubber, which can be freely shaped like clay and hardens in 5 minutes in a 120°C (248°F) oven, is unbreakable, water-resistant, and safe for human use. Its ability to bond to itself and be further processed opens up new possibilities for creativity.Take 5 Rubber® aims to foster rich craftsmanship in everyday life.

 was founded in a region where pottery production flourished 1500 years ago in Japan. In this place that holds the memory of ancient pottery culture, we will create a new pottery culture using our original rubber material, Artisan Silicone®.

ARTISAN SILICONE®Conventional silicone rubber has been used for kitchen utensils and medical devices, but it requires specialized equipment and high-temperature, high-pressure processing. ARTISAN SILICONE® overturns this conventional image and is a new type of silicone rubber.It can be kneaded by hand like modeling clay and can be cured as is in a household toaster oven at 120°C (248°F).It has almost no odor, unlike industrial silicone rubber, making it comfortable to work with.Due to its high refractive index, it mixes and blends colors well, allowing for the expression of a variety of colors.It is harmless to the human body and can be used safely even by people with metal allergies. Even if accidentally swallowed, it is excreted from the body, making it safe even in environments with small children. It is also heat-resistant from -50°C to 200°C (-58°F to 392°F) and can be used in a variety of situations.It has low tackiness and is not sticky, making it easy to work with. It can be molded into the desired shape without the need for a mold, and it is also possible to integrate cured rubber with uncured raw material.

KOUBOU is a generator that creates a structure for the first time in Abel’s history.Just like a flash of light, KOUBOU sends stainless steel plates with “Abel Black” applied on them into a structure in a flash at all, just as it is described as “a flash of light.The light leaking from the slit of KOUBOU is the radiance of the wisdom and labor of the team that created “Abel Black”.The light is captured by “Abel Black” and becomes a structure of light with mass, creating a new experience.
KOUBOUはアベルの歴史の中で初めて、構造体を作り出す生成装置である。光がぴかっと一瞬光るがごとく、事が急激に変化する様を「光芒一閃(こうぼういっせん)」と形容されるように、
KOUBOUはアベルブラックが施されたステンレス板を見る見るうちに構造体へと送り出してゆく。KOUBOUの隙間から漏れ出す光はアベルブラックを作り上げてきたチームの知恵と労力の輝きである。その光はアベルブラックに取り込まれ、質量をもった光の構造体となり、新たな体験を作り出す。

ABEL BLACK is a stainless that darkens on its own. Developed by ABEL Co., Ltd. In Osaka, Japan, with over fifty years of technical development, this material achieves a combination of authentic metal texture and rich color that traditional paints and plating cannot provide. It is employed in high-end building materials, car exteriors, and design elements.

Abel co.,Ltd a company dedicated to the pursuit of ultimate beauty alongside creators, has established a new presence in MinamiTaishido, Yao Osaka. This space serves as a hub for showcasing individuals, objects, and events that embody Abel’s aesthetic across various disciplines.More than just a platform for showcasing Abel’s own products, it’s a place where the company can engage with creators, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to achieving the pinnacle of beauty.The new headquarters is designed to inspire creativity among its staff, who share the company’s vision. It also serves as a conduit for communicating Abel’s aesthetic philosophy and engaging with visiting creators in the pursuit of ultimate beauty.The building’s facade and a small gallery at the entrance are designed to engage the local community, introducing an element of beauty into the daily lives of passersby. For visitors, the experience of Abel’s aesthetic is carefully curated throughout the space—from the facade and entrance to the elevator, showroom, meeting spaces, and beyond. This immersive environment aims to foster creative exchange and shared moments of inspiration.ステンレス素材メーカーのアベル株式会社は、最高の美を追求するという理念を共有するため、様々な分野で美を追求する人、モノ、コトを紹介する場を八尾市南太子堂に開設しました。この新社屋は、自社製品の発信拠点となるだけでなく、志を同じくするクリエイターとの交流を通して最高の美を創造する場となります。また、従業員の創造性を刺激する快適な職場環境を提供するとともに、アベルの美意識を来訪者に伝え、共に最高の美を追求できる空間を目指しています。地域との繋がりを重視し、ファサードやエントランスに設けられた小ギャラリーを通じて、道行く人々に美への関心を喚起します。さらに、来訪者に対しては、ファサード、エントランス、エレベーター、ショールーム、ミーティングスペースなど、あらゆる空間を通してアベルの美意識を体感させ、その世界観に浸りながら創造的な時間を共有します。
